Meet Emily

In 2021, I was about to finish my degree in sustainability, and I was excited about the career ahead. But something kept gnawing at me that I had been neglecting — my creativity.
I created Lightwell that spring after listening to a sermon on the transcendentals: truth, beauty and goodness. These things are named such because they transcend beyond their own characteristics and point us to the One who is Himself Truth, Beauty and Goodness, Jesus Christ.
The eternal significance, then, of creating beautiful things is that beauty reveals our Creator. This revelation inspired me to a personal mission of co-creating beauty using the gifts He has given me.
At Lightwell’s inception, I was making stationery and gifts for friends and family: invitations for a best friend’s wedding, a painted ornament for a sister’s first home, cards for any reason at all. Seeing the significance of a meaningful personalized gift made me want to share this with a wider community.
Thank you for your love and support of my studio! I am so blessed to get to do what I love while supporting our little family. May God bless you!
The name
Why Lightwell?
I pray my work will be a light to others searching for His beauty.
“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a basket. Instead, they set it on a stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Matthew 5:14–16
